From Prototype to Low-Volume Production

Service Robot Housing Manufacturing

A service robotics project required consistent exterior housings and functional components for low-volume production, while keeping development flexible and initial tooling investment under control.

The Solution

3D printing was used for early design validation, fit checks, and functional testing. After the design was confirmed, selected parts were produced through Rapid Injection Molding (RIM) to support repeatable low-volume manufacturing.

The Result

This hybrid approach helped the project move from prototype to batch production more efficiently, combining fast iteration with improved part consistency, flexible material options, and lower upfront tooling requirements than conventional injection molding.
